Readings on Füruzan Comparative and Thematic Analyses This volume, the only academic book devoted entirely to studies on Füruzan in English, has been prepared in commemoration of the “almost” 90th anniversary of Füruzan's birth and the “almost” 70th anniversary of her literary career. Different sources cite various years for Füruzan's birth, though 1932 and 1935 are the most frequently mentioned. In consideration of Füruzan's remarks about her reluctance to discuss her age, the term “almost” serves as a gesture of respect. At the same time, this book is intended to honor her life and achievements in Turkish literature and culture. The book comprises seven studies that explore Füruzan's narrative world through various critical and comparative approaches. The essays aim to examine her works not only through textual analysis but also from comparative and intertextual perspectives to explain the reasons of Füruzan's emergence as one of the most distinctive voices in Turkish literature. The chapters illuminate Füruzan not only as a writer of profound sensitivity and social conscience but also as an intellectual devoted to the linguistic richness of Turkish literature. Consequently, this book seeks to bring Füruzan's work to the attention of the English-speaking world and academia through insightful academic studies that explore her enduring literary voice.
